IPNEd Answers the Call for Global Education
IPNEd has joined the Answer the Call campaign to advocate for increased and sustainable financing for education worldwide.
The campaign, led by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), calls on world leaders to prioritise education funding, particularly for marginalised communities.
We reaffirm our commitment to pushing for stronger government and donor commitments to ensure every child has access to quality learning opportunities.
Under the theme ‘AI and Education: Human Agency in an Automated World’, the International Day of Education 2025 encourages reflection on the power of education to equip individuals and communities to navigate, understand and influence technological advancement.
IPNEd is proud to announce that we have signed onto the Answer the Call campaign, joining a global movement to secure urgent and sustainable financing for education. Led by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), this campaign calls on world leaders to prioritise investment in education, to ensure that every child - especially those in marginalised communities - has access to quality learning opportunities.
Education is the foundation of a just and equitable society. Yet, millions of children worldwide remain out of school due to conflict, poverty, and systemic barriers. The Answer the Call campaign urges governments, donors, and stakeholders to take immediate action by increasing and improving education financing, particularly in low- and lower-middle-income countries where the need is greatest.
At IPNEd, we believe that investing in education is one of the most effective ways to break cycles of poverty and build a more sustainable future. By signing onto this campaign, we reaffirm our commitment to advocating for policies that ensure every child, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to learn and thrive.
To achieve meaningful progress, the campaign emphasises:
Increased Domestic Financing: Governments must allocate at least 20% of their national budgets to education.
Stronger International Support: Donors must uphold commitments and scale up education aid, particularly for the most vulnerable children.
Innovative Financing Solutions: New and effective funding mechanisms are needed to close the global education financing gap.
Joseph Nhan-O-Reilly, Executive Director of IPNEd, stated:
"Education is not just a fundamental right; it is the foundation for a just and prosperous future. By joining the Answer the Call campaign, we are making it clear that urgent action is needed. If we do not act now, millions of children will be left behind. Governments must step up, and we will hold them accountable."
He continued: "We know that education transforms lives. It creates opportunities, reduces poverty, and fosters more inclusive societies. Every investment in education is an investment in our collective future. We’re calling on policymakers, donors, and global leaders to answer the call and deliver the financing necessary to give every child the education they deserve and ensure that every child learns."
As a network dedicated to parliamentary engagement in education, IPNEd will continue to:
Work with policymakers to ensure education financing remains a priority in global development discussions.
Advocate for stronger commitments from governments and donors.
Support research and analysis that highlights the impact of education funding on children’s futures.
Joining the Answer the Call campaign is just one step in our broader mission to champion education as a fundamental right. We urge our partners and members to stand with us in this effort. Together, we can build a world where every child has access to quality education and the chance to reach their full potential.
